David Sherman is a professor in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He earned his BA in psychology at Cornell University, his PhD in psychology at Stanford University, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA. He is a social psychologist whose research centers on how people cope with threatening events and information and the implications of social psychology for social policy. With his students, he has been trying to understand psychological barriers to environmental action and how to overcome them.
